Miles College is modernizing its technology operations.
The Fairfield-based institution has selected Ellucian Colleague SaaS, a Reston, Virginia-based company, to implement a modern and cloud-based system to support the institution's digital transformation strategy.
Miles is planning to build a digital transformation strategy that focuses on building an accessible learning environment for students. According to the university, upgrading the systems will provide students with an online, self-service experience for registration and course enrollment with easy access to grades and a view of financial aid and financial standing, integrated data across platforms will deliver greater insights to campus leaders and IT administrators will recognize efficiencies and greater security.
"Under the leadership of President (Bobbie) Knight, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing our students with a seamless enrollment experience, and to do that effectively, we have to improve the way we operate," said Michael Johnson, chief innovation officer for Miles College. "The decision to move forward with Ellucian Colleague SaaS provides a valuable opportunity to improve our technological infrastructure and better serve our students."
Miles College has put a greater emphasis on technology in the past couple years. In 2020, Knight discussed plans to use CARES Act funds to upgrade some technical aspects and provide computers for students. The institution also opened the M-Power Center that allows students and faculty to learn, train and regularly engage with the newest technology and provides a help desk, a faculty training station, student support technology services and an e-sports training arena.
