A local startup will be moving out of Innovation Depot and into a new headquarters next year.

Immediate, a financial wellness and earned wage access company, will move to 2820 Central Ave. in Homewood. The new location will undergo extensive renovations to create a space that can foster collaboration, company leaders said.

The renovations will be led by Chambless King Architects with the move-in date expected this summer. The office will be designed to accommodate company growth and allow room for further expansion. This will provide Immediate with new ways to connect with customers and collaborate. Immediate hopes to expand its footprint beyond its current user base, which currently covers 46 states.

“Birmingham has provided Immediate with a supportive startup community and innovative fintech ecosystem,” said Matt Pierce, CEO and founder of Immediate. “Additionally, as we work to provide more American workers with on-demand wage access, it makes sense for us to be in Birmingham where there are major health care systems and companies with thousands of employees who could benefit from financial solutions like Immediate.”

Pierce said that Homewood will provide a convenient, walkable neighborhood for Immediate customers traveling to Birmingham. He said new venues like Valley Hotel, culinary options and coffee shops, the neighborhood offers a great atmosphere to host visitors from out of state and for his 45 employees.

“Moving Immediate to the city of Homewood is exciting not only personally, as it's where my family is, but also professionally,” Pierce said. “We are proud to be a part of this thriving community and moving into a space that will accommodate our growing team and allow us to continue to serve our employees and our customers as well as our community."

While Immediate will vacate its space at Innovation Depot in downtown Birmingham, Pierce said the spot was integral to the company's success since starting in December 2019.
