Local startup Help Lightning has acquired a Mountain View, California-based augmented reality company.
Help Lightning, a provider of remote visual assistance software, has acquired Fieldbit, an augmented reality-enabled platform known for knowledge sharing, remote collaboration and workflow automation capabilities. Fieldbit also has offices in Germany, The Netherlands and Israel. Financial details of the detail were not disclosed.
Help Lightning is applying the use of augmented reality for industries such as medical equipment and telecommunications. With growth in the augmented reality realm expected in the future, Help Lightning’s acquisition is expected to add value creation for the company's global enterprise customers.

Help Lightning leaders said its customers will benefit from access to additional capabilities to enable real-time and expert-led problem solving while also supporting a variety of self-help scenarios. The acquisition will add on a set of capabilities for Help Lightning including remote video collaboration and technical support, 3D annotation, merged reality feature, knowledge capture and share, work instructions including operational and safety procedures and augmenting real-time data.
With this acquisition, Help Lightning will boost the services it currently offers to brands like Ricoh, Bunn and Becton Dickinson. Fieldbit also has a strong roster of successful customers including BP, Emerson, and Veolia.
