SPOC Automation, a local developer of automation technology, is launching a new company.

SPOC Grid Inverter Technologies Inc. will provide new options to boost performance and provide new energy alternative configuration choices to assist in reducing carbon emissions and giving users more control over power systems. The company will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of SPOC Automation. It will have applications in marine system propulsion, thruster equipment, battery energy storage and renewable energy, among other areas.

Company leaders said the new subsidiaries will allow SPOC to expand its reach. SPOC Automation initially focused on the oil and gas sector.

“We are excited about this new company and technology, as it is a natural progression to our core. SPOC is ecstatic reach and assist new companies and markets as well,” said SPOC President and CEO Robert Mason. “I am as excited about the launch of this company as I was when we began SPOC Automation 20 years ago, and I am looking forward to carrying on the great work we do and elevating our capabilities to new heights.”

Industry veteran Andrew Williams has been named managing director of SPOC Grid Inverter Technologies.

Williams has more than 20 years of experience in the switchgear and power control markets. In his new role, Williams will be responsible for driving revenue, strategy, product development, leadership and ongoing business development.
