A local medical device startup has changed offices.
Rampart IC has moved its home office from Hardware Park to the Urban Center in Liberty Park. The company now has 2,000 square feet of office space at 1500 Urban Center Drive, Suite 140, which serves as the corporate headquarters. The location will handle financial, legal and operational support. The manufacturing of the devices and necessary tools will continue to be done in Bessemer and the Dominican Republic.
“Urban Center provided ... a brand location for team members and a location that we felt that our customers (and vendors) would be comfortable coming in, visiting and meeting with us,” said Tom Livingston, CEO of Rampart IC.
Livingston said the company has been planning a move since the middle of 2021. It had been subleasing space in Hardware Park from another business but also outgrew a secondary location. The new location offers space for four permanent employees and there are another eight employees scattered throughout the country working remotely.
Livingston said that the future for the office includes Rampart IC continuing to leverage growth.
“We've had a successful 2021, and even with all the challenges of the supply chain and those kinds of things that we faced, the success that we saw in 2021 was both exciting and scary, and we need to start laying a foundation for future growth,” he said. “We went from being a national company in 2021 to an international company. We have distributor agreements in up to 43 countries now. We're just wanting to make sure that we start laying the foundation for supporting our team and for supporting what we see now as future growth for a really exciting product.”
The company anticipates significant growth both domestically and internationally as well as in the academic space. Several academic institutions are taking notice of Rampart IC's product.
