TIXiMED Inc., founded in 2021, has 25 employees.

Here's an interview with Anath Shalev, founder and chief scientific officer.

What is the most important thing your company accomplished in 2022?

We did the work necessary to file an investigational new drug application including chemistry, manufacturing and control and toxicology. This entailed scale up and optimization of the manufacturing of our small molecule compound, TIX100, as well as extensive toxicology, pharmacokinetic and safety studies in rats and dogs (non-GLP and GLP). This work was made possible by a successful series seed funding initiative.

What is a short-term and long-term goal for the company in 2023?

Our short-term goal is to submit an IND application and get FDA approval to do a phase 1 clinical trial. We are also in the process of having sufficient quantities of medical grade TIX100 being manufactured and getting a drug product (a capsule) developed as well as selecting the best suited clinical CRO to conduct the trials. We are aiming to get TIX100 into humans this summer, but to execute on these plans $3-4MM in funding is needed. Our long-term goal for 2023 is to complete the first set of human safety studies of the phase 1 clinical trial, which will allow us to continue with the clinical trial in 2024. With that in mind, we are also planning to launch a Series A funding round.

What can Alabama do to better support startups?
