Versus, which launched in 2022, has 28 employees.
Here's an interview with CEO Eric Frye.
What is the most important thing your company accomplished in 2022?
The most important thing our company accomplished this year was getting our product to market and capturing 20 talent on camera for our content.
What is a short-term and long-term goal for the company in 2023?
Short-term: We want to introduce millions of new people to our content. We know it’s incredibly valuable to people who love to compete, so ultimately, we want to help as many people as possible gain access to it.
Long-term: Thinking long-term, we plan to focus our ultimate data strategy around building progressive user profiles so we can create hyper-personalized content, recommendations and customer outreach experiences that help customers focus on achieving their goals every day. While we will continue taking the holistic approach to our content to include the soft skills that are valuable in the overall learning journey, we also want to research and experiment with new experiences that are continuously aligned with customer needs, allowing us to quickly pivot to emerging business opportunities.
What can Alabama do to better support startups?
Alabama is rich with capital and with entrepreneurship, but the path between the two is not always easy to navigate. Currently, there are amazing competitions that help companies prioritize goals and articulate their pitch strategy, but there are lots of companies hungry to get off the ground that would benefit from greater access and feedback so they better understand how to get greater attention and funding. Part of our challenge as a state is to help connect entrepreneurs with private equity, family offices, venture capital, etc so we can help startups get off the ground.
