Maryland Inno is here.
Consider this your entry into the Maryland startup ecosystem.
Why is the Baltimore Business Journal launching this new product? Though we have long covered the ins and outs of economic development, we wanted to take it up a notch. We're trying to find those stories of the fledgling companies — and even ideas — that could be the next big business opportunity for you and your business.
Maryland Inno is a digital media, events and data company covering, connecting and spurring local innovation. We're part of American Inno, a network of local innovation intelligence cultivating engaged startup, tech and entrepreneurial communities in 40-plus markets (and counting) across the country. In each of its markets, Inno will serve as a portal to and for the local innovation economy. Maryland Inno will be working to connect local entrepreneurs to venture capital, peers and resources in our other markets as it pursues its goal to help them grow locally.
In Maryland, Baltimore Business Journal Technology Reporter Jack Bologna will lead the Inno effort with help from the entire BBJ staff. We're on the hunt for stories about new players — and existing ones — embarking on innovative ventures. If you have story pitches, feedback or questions, contact Jack at jbologna@bizjournals.com.
We love to tell stories about the people behind the companies, ideas and organizations that are leading the present and future of the region's business landscape. Know a startup or entrepreneur we should we be in touch with? Let us know.
You'll find in-depth looks into the trends and topics that are impacting and influencing the region's reputation as an emerging tech hub, as well as resource-driven lists and multimedia. The daily news and analysis will help those in the community stay informed and will serve as a resource for people and businesses that are new to the ecosystem. We also have several directories to help you further navigate and discover this burgeoning ecosystem.
What you'll find in Maryland Inno:
- Stories that focus on innovation within a company, industry or jurisdiction.
- Breaking news about early and growth-stage businesses.
- Startups — and the venture capital fueling them.
- Next-generation developments in the companies you already know. For example, we hope to highlight the latest innovation at McCormick & Co. Inc., T. Rowe Price Group Inc. and other big names.
- We'll introduce you to the Inno Under 25 — young entrepreneurs who are quickly making a name for themselves.
- The Maryland Tech Ecosystem — a detailed guide to the state's innovation industry — will give you the names of the key people and institutions in the innovation economy.
Throughout the year, Maryland Inno will be hosting a variety of events, from focused meetups to big award celebrations. This is a chance to meet the innovators in person or virtually.
Finally, thanks to our Founding Partners Nemphos Braue and TEDCO for supporting the launch of Maryland Inno and the local innovation economy.
