Here are four recent hires we noticed in the technology and startup space.
• FileTrail Inc., a records management software company that moved from California to Austin last year, announced it has named Harold Westervelt as CEO. It's the company's first CEO, and co-founder and president Darrell Mervau will remain with the company in a strategic role. Westervelt was most recently CEO of Sapiens Decision. Prior to that, he was president of INVeSHARE.
• Austin emergency response tech platform RapidDeploy Inc. said Oct. 5 it has added Karen Carlson as its new vice president of product. She was previously a product manager at NICE Ltd. Prior to that, she was SaaS portfolio manager at Motorola Solutions, and earlier in her career worked as operations manager for Brown County Public Safety Communications in Wisconsin.
• CognitiveScale Inc., a fast-growing AI company based in Austin, said it has appointed former IBM Senior VP Robert J. Picciano as its new CEO. Picciano was also chair of IBM's People with Diverse Abilities business resource group. He replaces co-founder Shay Sabhikhi, who is becoming COO of the company after seven years at the helm. The company also added Mike McQuaid as chief revenue officer; Bart Peluso as VP of marketing and the promoted Gopal Krishnan to senior VP of engineering and delivery.
• Snow Software, which is headquartered in Sweden and has a large office in Austin, said Oct. 6 it added David Pieterse as its chief revenue officer. He previously was senior VP of global revenue at Kong Inc., and, before that, worked at Cloudera as VP and GM of the Americas.
