GovOS Inc., a subsidiary company of Dallas-based Kofile Technologies Inc., has selected Austin for its headquarters.

The company's new space is in Northwest Austin near North Capital of Texas Highway and Spicewood Springs Road.

When it opens Aug. 9, the new space will be home to Senior Vice President of Sales Luke Wilson, along with a team of 20 newly hired employees, as well as a few existing team members.

GovOS plans to build that team to about 60 in coming months and grow to about 100 total Austin employees by the end of the year. It expects to start hiring for development and customer success positions in the Austin office soon.

GovOS develops digital document management applications for government agencies. Its specialized apps help process utility bill issues, water meter installations, bulk trash pickup, land records, case filings, marriage licenses, open records requests and other common processes.

Kofile, which launched GovOS earlier this year, was founded in 2009. It was acquired by Boston-based Audax Private Equity in February 2020. It will keeps its Dallas headquarters and GovOS will have a few employees in Dallas, as well. Kevin Lafeber is GovOS president.

The new office is in the Prominent Pointe office campus at 8310 N. Capital Of Texas Hwy., and the company worked with Site Selection Group LLC to secure the space.

GovOS said it picked Austin "to be closer to a rich tech talent pool, software industry leaders and to ensure the company has the right environment to fulfill its aggressive growth goals over the next five years."

“In the last year, digital transformation for government has accelerated quickly in response to the challenges of 2020, and our customer base has expanded significantly,” Lafeber said in a statement. “As a result, we are increasing the size and depth of our team to meet demand. Establishing this new headquarters in northwest Austin will give us the home base we need to expand and meet the needs of our customers while inspiring us to continue pushing the limits of innovation for government technology.”
