Tough times call for philanthropic efforts. And Austin social good venture firm Notley is teaming up with Uber and the City of Austin to help with one of our most basic needs: transportation.
Under a new partnership, the three organizations plan to giveaway $120,000 in ride credits for local nonprofits, essential workers and other individuals with critical transportation needs.
It launched Thursday by announcing the first $10,000 of credits has been awarded to Any Baby Can, which provides support to families with kids experience developmental delays, cancer and other problems. With the free transportation, they'll be able to bring 650-plus prepared meals to families in need each week.
Notley's role involves accepting applications and choosing how to distribute the credits in partnership with the city. You can apply for credits here. The offer expires June 30.
"We appreciate both the donation of these credits and the work of Notley to get them into the hands of those they can help," Austin Mayor Steve Adler said in a news release. "Coming together to help neighbors is the 'Austin way,' not just for individuals but also for the companies who do business here."
In other Notley news, the organization has shifted its annual Philanthropitch pitch competition for nonprofits to a virtual format. The move opens the format to viewers nationwide, giving the nonprofits and even broader audience. The pitches, by nonprofits, last three minutes each, followed by questions from judges.
