Maybe Elon Musk wasn't just messin' with Texas.
The tech mogul and Tesla founder is reportedly planning to put its next Gigafactory, which will now be called a Terafactory, in or near Austin. (Updated: Tulsa, Okla. is also a contender, the AP reported.)
Citing a source familiar with the project, Electrek reports that Musk has directed his engineering team working at Gigafactory Nevada to start planning a new factory to produce Tesla's Cybertruck and Model Y. The publication said the company is looking at several sites around Austin but hasn't yet selected one.
Back in February, Musk teased the idea of a Gigafactory in Texas in a Twitter poll.
Musk also temporarily changed his location to Austin on his Twitter profile, which has 31 million followers.
But it appears Musk's recent frustrations with stay-at-home orders in Alemeda County, Calif. have accelerated his interest in Texas and Nevada. And Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has confirmed that Tesla is serious about Texas, though he didn't provide any details.

Tesla has its other giant car and battery manufacturing plants in Buffalo, N.Y., Storey County, Nev., as well as one in China and another being built in Germany.
