At this point in the pandemic, many of us have blazed through a dozen-plus streaming movies, spent hours video conferencing with friends and family and maybe even created a date night of sorts.
We need that escape -- however small -- to distract from the health crisis. Now, Austinites are getting a new option: a mystery box.
Seattle startup Mystery, which initially offered curated outings based on customer preferences, is launching its Night In experience in Austin. It offers dinner for two, as well as "a range of surprise activities and wares from local providers."
As part of that, the company posted a job opening for someone to help curate and execute the experiences.
The classic version of the Night In box, priced at $150 for two people, features meals from local chefs (some of which may need to be reheated) and allows you to add additional meals or tack on a $25 bottle of red or white wine.
Its delivery area isn't yet defined on its website. But, based on a few spot checks, it's available in Central Austin but not as far north as the Domain. It suggests you can arrange for delivery or pickup by talking to a company representative if you're out of range.
The startup, founded just over a year ago, has raised $1.3 million in funding.
