The Top Austin Tech and Startup Hires and Departures of January 2020

Austin sprouts new tech jobs every day. And as local startups rise and companies continue to move their headquarters from California and elsewhere to join Austin’s tech and innovation ecosystem, top talent continues to cycle through the city. 

We’ve rounded up the the most interesting moves of January 2020 below. And you can get more of this type of information on the regular by subscribing to our daily newsletter, the Beat.

Austin’s Epicor Software Corporation promoted Himanshu Palsule to president, reporting directly to CEO Steve Murphy. Palsule joined Epicor in 2015, and he will continue in his other role as chief product and technology officer. Before joining Epicor, Palsule was CTO and head of strategy at Sage Software. Epicor, founded in 1972, develops a variety of business management software products and has about 3.7K employees globally.

CLEAResult, an Austin clean energy company, added Divakar Jandhyala as its new CTO. He was previously CIO and CTO at American Achievement Corporation.

Proactive Talent, an Austin recruiting firm, added Courtney Lane as its first principal consultant. She joined the company as a lead consultant in 2018. She’s part of a team that has added several new players in the past year or so.

Keith Nealon, who guided Vyze as CEO through its April acquisition by Mastercard, has become CEO of high-profile Austin technology company Bazaarvoice. The native of Dublin, Ireland, started his new CEO duties Jan. 1. He replaced Joe Davis, an operating executive at Marlin Equity Partners, who had been Bazaarvoice interim CEO since May 2018. Marlin, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, acquired Bazaarvoice in February 2018, taking it off the Nasdaq in a roughly $521M deal.

Austin’s TexHahn Digital, which is owned by TexHahn Media, named Tim Weinheimer as its president, overseeing digital services. Weinheimer previously founded digital brand marketing firm The Weinheimer Group, and he is a member of Google’s Public Sector Advisory Council.

Silverton Partners, an Austin VC firm, promoted Roger Chen to partner. He originally joined Silverton in 2017 as principal. Before that, he was a principal at Genacast VEntures in New York. In addition, Tina Dai has joined as principal. She joins from First Round Capital in San Francisco. Before that, she worked in product and strategy at McKinsey.

KUNGFU.AI, an Austin AI strategy and development company, added Steve Kramer as its chief scientist. He was previously senior research scientist at Austin-based Yonder (formerly known as New Knowledge). Before that, he was president and chief scientist at Paragon Science.

Ironspring, a local VC firm, announced that it is adding Ty Findley as a managing partner. Findley, who is relocating to Austin from Chicago, has spent nearly a decade in the digital industrial space, both as a venture investor and as an engineer. He was most recently responsible for early and growth-stage investments as VP of Chicago-based Pritzker Group Venture Capital. Before that, he was a senior associate at GE Ventures. He also spent a year as a venture fellow analyst with Austin-based, early-stage investment firm 51 Capital. He joins Managing Partners Adam Bridgman and Peter J. Holt who founded the firm in 2019.
