A batch of early-stage startups, tech giants, nonprofits and emerging community leaders are among finalists named for the 2019 Austin Mosaic Awards, which will be announced Aug. 22.

The awards, which recognize the companies and individuals with the most impactful diversity and inclusion initiatives in Austin, drew from community nominations. The 47 finalists were selected by a panel of judges who have experiences in diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Created by Janice Omadeke, founder and CEO of The Mentor Method, and Naji H. Kelley, founder and CEO of BLNDED Media (which has an editorial partnership with Austin Inno), the Austin Mosaic Awards emerged last year as an effort to highlight best practices in inclusion initiatives.

Among last year’s winners were Indeed, Galvanize, Chi’lantro BBQ, Threatcare and The New Philanthropists. The Mosaic Awards also honored four individuals for their work — Angelica Erazo, Charlie Jackson, Gloria de Leon and Gary Bledsoe.

The 2019 Mosaic Award winners will be announced at the awards show on Aug. 22 at Google Austin, 500 W 2nd St. This year's keynote speaker is Backstage Capital founder Arlan Hamilton, who built a venture capital fund focused on diverse founders while she was homeless.
