Austin Has Become Techstars' Second Largest Operation

Techstars Austin is welcoming its newest class of accelerator companies on Monday.

And it comes during a big transition for the popular program. Techstars recently moved its Austin offices from a loft on Congress Avenue near 5th Street to a 6,800-square-foot space that it shares with Yeti Coolers flagship retail store at 220 S. Congress.

The move was precipitated by the creation of Techstars Impact, an accelerator led by Austin's Zoe Schlag that is focused on helping startups with a mission to create social good. With that, Austin now has more Techstars employees and staff than any other location outside of its headquarters in Boulder, Colo.

On Monday, Techstars Austin welcomed is sixth accelerator class since launching here in 2013. The program concludes with Demo Day on April 20.

The program regularly includes out-of-town startups. But this batch is unique in that six of the companies hail from the Carolinas -- and four are from Austin. The cohort also includes seven startups led by minority and female founders.
