WeWork, the global coworking giant, is planning to add a fourth location in Austin -- and it's a stone's throw away from WeWork's first location at 6th and Congress.

The space in the Chase Tower at 221 West 6th St. will be large enough to house about 1,050 members. It will come decked out with many common WeWork perks, including phone booths, bars, cozy furniture, pantries and a rotating assortment of freebies.

The announcement coincides with the official launch of MassChallenge Texas, an accelerator which will be located in the new WeWork space when it opens.

"MassChallenge’s work aligns with our mission to help people do what they love by providing the tools and resources they need, and we’re excited to work together to support and empower companies making a difference right here in Texas,” Nathan Lenahan, head of operations for WeWork’s southern region, said in a news release.

WeWork opened its first location in February 2015. That quickly filled up, and the New York-based company opened WeWork University Park in April 2016. It opened an office at the Domain in North Austin in December last year.

The addition of a fourth office, opening in spring 2018, is another indication that Austin's startup boom is continuing as dozens of coworking spaces compete to rent space and resources to freelancers, one-person offices, small teams and even startups with 50-plus employees.
