Google has been in Austin 10 years -- since it acquired Postini for $625 million. But it hasn't been until recently that the company's growth here, and the diversity of jobs done in its Austin offices, have become well-known to the public.
The Mountain View-based tech giant has 450 employees in its new downtown Austin offices, which consolidated its two previous offices in North Austin and University Park. Teams at the new space work on many well-known Google products, including Android, G Suite and Google Play -- and across several departments, including people operations, finance, engineering and marketing.
On Wednesday evening, Google had its grand opening party with 300 or so Austin tech entrepreneurs, executives, politicians and others checking the space out on a guided tour and cocktail party.
