8 Insightful Austin Tech and Startup Newsletters to Subscribe to

If you're hustling like most of us in startup mode, your inbox is probably overflowing with information. Some of it is vital. Some is trivial. And, of course, a lot of it is junk.

When it comes to newsletters, we all have our standbys -- the ones we count on to keep us in touch with the world, entertained and save us from browsing through dozens of websites for the content we want. Whether it's the local pizza joint's newsletter or one from The New York Times, we want content curation. We want brevity. We want exclusive stuff.

With that in mind, we've built a list of local, tech-oriented newsletters that should be on your radar -- the type that are worth reading on a regular basis and are almost certain to turn you on to new developments, ideas and events in the tech community.

Here we go. (The links for each entry lead to newsletter sign up pages, when possible.)

The Central Texas Angel Network -- CTAN is the most active angel investment groups in the nation. Their monthly newsletter is a must-read with valuable insights for any entrepreneur seeking angel investments, and it also lists many of the most important funding deadlines, pitch competitions and startup events going on in Central Texas.

Texas Squared -- Being an Austin startup means being a Texas startup, and many of your best resources, investors and partners may be in a few hours away in San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth or Houston. This newsletter lists all of the important tech stories out of each Texas city, and it includes events and notes about each market. It is a key resource for anyone starting a business in Texas.

Austin Startup Digest -- The Techstars Startup Digest is curated by Capital Factory's Joshua Baer and Chris Sanchez, founder of zibernetics. This one is key in that it brings together a list of stories, events, jobs and office space listings you won't find in other newsletters.

The Austin Forum on Technology and Society -- This organization puts together monthly discussions, often involving high-level executives, investors and inventors who focus on the role of tech in our society. Their newsletter recaps events, for those who missed them, and provides additional resources that create a meaningful way to learn about key topics.

Texas Venture Labs -- If you're in Austin, you'll want to make use of the vast resources at the University of Texas. And Texas Venture Labs is one of the best places to start. Tune in to this newsletter to stay up-to-date on their events and the long list of startups emerging from the program.

Austin Tech Events -- OK, we promised we wouldn't list newsletters that are just lists. But, this one is unique in that it shows a long list of Austin tech events. It's not always perfect -- some of those weekly meet ups fizzle out without a public notification. But it's a great resource to find places to network and learn.

Tech Ranch -- Tech Ranch is one of Austin's longest-standing startup resource centers. It profiles Austin entrepreneurs and lists events. And, more recently, it has linked to video reports from founder Kevin Koym, who has been exploring the startup scene in Norway and other far-flung places.

The Austin Inno Beat -- Of course, we're including ourselves. We read all these newsletters and gather information from dozens of other sources each day to give readers one place to see all of the day's top Austin tech startup news, fundings, mergers, personnel moves and a little bit of fun in the Weird and Wired section. So, if you haven't already, give it a swing.
