14 Startups Entering the Texas Venture Labs Accelerator at UT

The University of Texas' Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs has a history of churning out startups that get funding and grow to the next stage and beyond.

To date, 42 percent of the startups that have gone through the program have raised funding. And a lot of it -- a collective $420 million.

The accelerator announced Thursday the 14 companies entering its fall accelerator program. The program starts Sept. 11 and culminates with the Venture Expo on December 7.

Here's a quick look at the companies. Note: the descriptions come directly from TVL's newsletter.

Newormics: Patented, first whole animal (in vivo), high throughput and high content drug screening platform.

Brandleap: Brand-controlled marketplace and retail locator providing website sales conversions, customer engagement, and advertising.

Viewer Ready: Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) solution, creating immersive data collecting experiences for Stadiums, Brands and Venues.

Big Wheelbarrow: Mobile, Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform that powers farm-to-table, allowing restaurants and buyers to find and purchase with ease.

WriterDuet: Real-time collaboration and multimedia platform built for the technical and creative needs of writers.

Health Hat: Health network solution leveraging customized data collection at the lower level, to spur efficiency and efficacy evaluations.

Flying Eyes: Patented eyewear, utilizing micro-thin, flexible and unbreakable technology for comfort under helmets or aviation-style headsets.

Ximena's Latin Flavors: Specialty Outstanding Food Innovation (SOFI) award winner, healthy, gluten free and versatile Latin American food product line, poised for expansion into hotels, restaurants and international distribution.

Ads for the Road: Digital analytics technology allows outdoor advertisers to calculate ROI by correlating source views to in-store and online impressions.

IUT: Patent Pending, intrauterine device (IUD) solving the medical and monetary issues of device failure or expulsion within the first four weeks postpartum.

bthere: Group-messaging + location-sharing app where friends can locate, connect and ensure safety while rewarding friends for spending time together.

SeriesX: 'Human capital DMP' focused on the secure management of documents and data related to employment.

Newchip: Universal, crowdfunding platform, consolidates investment opportunities from platforms around the world, tailoring investments to investor interests and goals.

Partake: Cloud-based, mobile platform streamlines golf on-demand service, operations and creates personalized customer experiences.
