Convey Raises $8.25M Series B Led By Techstars

Convey, an Austin-based shipping and delivery software startup, has closed an $8.25 million Series B funding round, the company announced Tuesday.

The round was led by Techstars Venture Capital Fund, with participation from RPM Ventures and other investors. Techstars was also part of Convey's $4.5 million Series A in June 2016, along with Silverton Partners, Capital Factory and Corsa Ventures.

This new funding round brings Convey's venture capital funding to $15.7 million since its launch in 2013.

The company is led by co-founder and CEO Rob Taylor and co-founder Dan Bebout. Taylor is a mentor at Techstars and Capital Factory, and he previously led Austin's BlackLocus through its acquisition in 2012 by Home Depot. Bebout launched Convey, then known as Pivot Freight, in Phoenix, and moved the company to Austin to participate in the Techstars Austin accelerator. The company relocated to Austin after that.

Convey makes fulfillment software that manages the logistics of shipping items from retailers to customers and other businesses. The software also captures data and analyzes it to provide insights about deliveries and other logistics. Its customers include Build.com, BuildDirect and many others. The company says bookings have grown more than three fold year-to-date this year.

The company is hiring software engineers, sales people and designers for six open job titles, including a couple that have multiple openings.

“The need to reduce operating and support costs, enhance decision-making, and synchronize processes across functions are critical drivers for supply chain technology investment today,” Tony Grover, managing director at RPM Ventures, said in a news release. “Convey understands how to turn these challenges into advantages for their customers, and we look forward to working with them as they expand their focus to new markets.”
