Fasten Launches Rewards Program and Says Ridership Is Not Slipping After Uber's Return

Fasten, the Boston-based ride-hailing startup, says its ridership isn't slipping in any major way since Uber and Lyft returned to Austin. And now it's launching a new rewards program that seems aimed at besting promotions offered by Uber and Lyft.

Fasten's new Fasten Karma program is simple -- after you take 10 trips, you automatically get $5 deducted from your next trip. This follows rewards programs offered by Uber and Lyft since their return to Austin in late May.

But, this one is different in that it isn't positioned as a one-time reward, like the $5 credits offered to some Lyft riders for a specified time period. Instead, this has no blackout dates or sunsets.

“This program is the first of its kind in the ride-hailing industry,” Kirill Evdakov, co-founder and CEO of Fasten, said in a news release. “We called it Karma because our riders have been doing something good by using our service that pays drivers more, and now it’s time for the good to come back to them.”
