FileTrail Inc. was among a wave of companies that moved from California to Austin around the time the coronavirus pandemic began.
In FileTrail's case, the move came, officially, in spring of 2020. At the time, it set up shop at 2505 E. Sixth St., in a 2,850-square-foot space. Now the company is saying so long to that space and moving about a half mile away.
The new office is at 2903 E. Second St., near East Cesar Chavez Street and Pleasant Valley Road. It is significantly larger, at 4,818 square feet. The office, which is a newly constructed building, is home to 20 local employees working in areas such as implementation, support, client success and sales operation. That's up from the initial 12 employees it had here when it moved its HQ from San Jose a few years ago.
FileTrail specializes in information governance and records management for law firms and other highly regulated industries. The company is bootstrapped and has made two acquisitions since its founding, including the 2022 purchase of information governance company Teravine, which was based in Overland Park, Kansas. It also scooped up the records management division of a Canadian company, OmniRIM, in 2020.
The new space is open and airy, including flexible work areas for visiting remote employees as well as room to support FileTrail’s future growth.
“FileTrail has experienced significant growth over the past couple of years, prompting our need for a larger headquarters. The new location offers improved security measures along with the flexibility we require for continued expansion,” FileTrail CEO Harold Westervelt stated. “In addition to seeking a newer building with modern amenities, we chose to stay in the popular East Austin area which remains helpful in attracting and retaining the quality talent for which FileTrail is known.”

You can see photos of the new space above. The images include a couple shots where you might notice a dog. His name is Chuck, and he is the company's chief pup officer, though you'll see from the photos he's not ashamed to take a mid-morning nap.
