TrendKite headed into the 2016 holiday season with a $16.6M funding announcement. And, just before the end of 2017, the Austin media analytics startup announced it closed $11 million in additional venture backing.

The round came from New York City-based Harmony Partners. And it brings TrendKite's total funding to $46 million since its founding in 2012.

TrendKite's software uses AI to analyze millions of news articles each day and generate a variety of analytics to help companies learn more about the effectiveness of their PR campaigns, the impact of earned media and compare competitors' coverage.

“The platform we’ve built gives us intelligence on every part of the media ecosystem,” TrendKite CEO Erik Huddleston said in a prepared statement. “That’s important because consumers trust earned media more than they trust advertising, but marketers can’t predictably drive ROI from earned media."

TrendKite is among Austin's fastest-growing startups. It says it has tripled employee headcount in the past year. It has 10 open positions currently listed, including roles in customer support, sales and development.

TrendKite's prior investors have included Adams Street Partners, Battery Ventures, Mercury Fund and Noro-Moseley Partners.
