We've covered a few hiring announcements and, unfortunately, even a few layoffs that have hit our local tech community.

Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, economic hard times are reaching businesses and communities across the country. According to the Labor Department, more than 42.6 million Americans have filed for unemployment in the past 11 weeks.

Some companies have proven themselves resilient by announcing hiring and expansion plans despite the pandemic. In fact, Atlanta tech is doing a fair share of it. According to a new ZipRecruiter study, Atlanta employers posted 436 new job listings over the past week and more than 1.6K total for May.

The tech industry specifically had the most job listings. The top hiring companies were RICEFW Technologies, Inc., Staffigo Technical Services, LLC, and HUNTER Technical Resources.

We asked our readers and other members of the community about Atlanta tech companies and startups that are hiring. That list is posted below:

  • Possibly the biggest tech hiring news for the local community this quarter is Microsoft announcing it will open a new facility in Atlanta that will create more than 1,500 new tech jobs in West Midtown.
