Phobio, an Atlanta-based omni-channel trade-in service software company, has created a second company from its product Rodio. The new startup will focus on workforce communications software using AI, specifically in the retail and healthcare space.

General Manager of Rodio Dan Barton has been named Rodio Inc.’s CEO. Phobio initially launched the Rodio platform in 2017. Rodio is a two-way communication platform integrating mobile devices and apps, with centralized controls to send and receive messages and bulletins to remote teams.

"Phobio started the mission to connect front-line employees through more effective communication as a result of opportunities they envisioned to support their core trade platform business," Barton said. "As they explored the need more deeply, through early partners and customers, they realized the opportunity was much broader and the need more critical. This created a great opportunity to spin Rodio out and let it pursue its own, broader objectives while maintaining a close on-going partnership."

Barton said the company is looking to grow talent in the Atlanta and Austin markets.

“The spin-off of Rodio enables both organizations to focus on innovation, drive growth opportunities, and provide world-class service to our customers and partners,” Stephen Wakeling, Phobio’s founder and CEO, said in a statement. “As a separate entity, Rodio is well-positioned to address the growing need for a comprehensive and flexible workgroup communications platform that can make a significant impact on an organization’s collaboration, productivity and efficiency.”

Rodio uses AI-powered technology to maximize team engagement and allow organizations to reach employees. Rodio serves as the front-end mobile application for FieldCentric, a field labor management platform used in the delivery of home health services.

“We realized early on that email was not the right fit for the dispersed workforce and that a new platform was needed to keep pace with these transformational shifts," Barton said in a statement. "The front-line workers of any company have the greatest impact on that company’s sales performance, operational effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. A company’s brand depends on their ability to inspire, engage, and empower their people. A better solution is needed for these critical workers and Rodio is uniquely positioned to deliver the ideal approach to uniting people with their work and their support networks.”
