Atlanta-based supply chain intelligence company Verusen has named Scott Matthews as its new CEO and board director, the company announced.

Matthews is the former CEO of Philadelphia-based customer acquisition software company MRP and New York City-based CrowdTwist Inc. During his time at CrowdTwist, the company achieved 728% revenue growth and was acquired by Oracle in a multimillion-dollar deal in 2019, according to the announcement. He also held leadership roles in technology, sales, and software-as-a-service companies.

“It’s an exciting period in the company’s lifespan,” Matthews said in a news release. “Due to the high demand for Verusen’s platform, the company is well positioned for accelerated growth."

Founder and former CEO Paul Noble will transition to the company’s chief strategy officer.

Verusen uses artificial intelligence and data to help companies improve their logistics operations. It has helped customers, which include Fortune 500 businesses, manage over $2 billion in inventory and generate hundreds of millions in savings, according to the company.

The company has more than 50 employees; 31 of whom are based in the metro Atlanta area. It has a 10,000-square-foot space in Atlanta’s Tech Square.

With Matthews appointment, Verusen will expand beyond manufacturers to connect them directly with suppliers.

In January 2022, the company raised $25 million in Series B funding led by Scale Venture Partners. That was one year after its $8 million Series A round. It is also backed by Glasswing Ventures, Zetta Venture Partners, Forte Ventures and BMW i Ventures.

Verusen was the No. 16 fastest-growing private company in Atlanta in 2022, according to Atlanta Business Chronicle research. Between 2020 and 2022, it grew its revenue by more than 2,800% and its staff by 757%.

Verusen is once again on the 100 fastest-growing private company list this year. Its ranking will be revealed at the 2023 Pacesetter Awards event April 27.
