More than a year after raising two rounds of $150 million and achieving unicorn status, Atlanta surveillance startup Flock Safety has ranked No. 7 in the Deloitte North America 2022 Technology Fast 500 Rankings.

Founded in 2017 by CEO Garrett Langley, the startup makes cameras for neighborhoods and police departments to analyze cars and license plates to assist crime investigations. It has seen a 13,117% three-year growth rate, according to the list.

Deloitte’s annual list highlights public and private technology companies that have the highest percentage fiscal year growth over a three-year period, according to its website.

There are 18 Georgia companies that made the list, a decline from 22 in 2021. Most of the companies are based in metro Atlanta. Georgia companies that returned to the list include LeaseQuery, FullStory, Calendly, CoreView, CENTIGIX, Salesloft, Wahoo Fitness and LendingPoint.

The ranking comes at a tumultuous time to grow a startup. As investors trade a focus on growth for profitability, valuations have declined leading some businesses to cut costs and lay off employees. Inflation, rising interest rates and recession fears have also created uncertainty in the industry.

Data privacy company OneTrust LLC, which previously made the Deloitte list, is among the local companies that laid off staff, though it has started hiring again. FullStory, a digital experience startup that ranked No. 322 on Deloitte’s list, announced it was laying off 12% of its staff earlier this year.

Despite the headlines, tech job postings have increased while overall tech unemployment remains low, according to a recent tech jobs report from industry nonprofit CompTIA.
