During the preseason, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts talked about how he had adopted healthier eating and drinking to prepare for the rigors of the NFL season. Now, the second-year starter has an endorsement deal with one of his new beverages of choice.

Hurts has entered into a partnership under which he will serve as a "brand champion" for Atlanta-based Lemon Perfect, an enhanced water product.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We're honored to have Jalen join our Lemon Perfect team as the first NFL spokesperson in our company's short history," said Lemon Perfect Founder and CEO Yanni Hufnagel.

Hufnagel called Hurts an "MVP-level NFL star whose reach will continue to accelerate with each Eagles win."

The Eagles started the new NFL season with a 38-35 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

As a Lemon Perfect spokesperson, Hurts will help build brand awareness among NFL fans — particularly in the Philadelphia region.

In April, Lemon Perfect announced the closing of a $31 million Series A headlined by music superstar and entrepreneur Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. The financing brought Lemon Perfect's total valuation, in the three years since it sold its first bottle, to more than $100 million. The company's flavors, in addition to "just lemon," consist of strawberry passion fruit, pineapple coconut, dragon fruit mango, blueberry açaí and peach raspberry.
