The 2022 cohort for the Techstars Atlanta powered by Cox Enterprises accelerator program includes eight local startups.

Techstars is an annual startup accelerator that helps grow 10 early-stage companies through mentorship and connection to funding over three months. Techstars programs have helped launch 100 companies and raised over $210 million over the last seven years, according to a news release.

The accelerator program has proven to help Atlanta startups score new deals. After completing the 2021 accelerator, Punchlist Labs Inc. raised $2 million from locally based venture capital firm Overline. OrderNerd, another member of that class, was acquired by local restaurant technology startup Popmenu shortly after completing the program.

Nine of the companies in this year’s class have diverse founding teams, according to the release. The teams will pitch their startups on an Oct. 17 Demo Day to investors and other audience members.

In March, Techstars Atlanta named Salesloft co-founder Tim Dorr as its managing director, replacing Dave Payne who held the role for three years. Dorr has been an entrepreneur in residence at Georgia Institute of Technology’s business incubator ATDC and founded companies such as co-working space Ignition Alley and software platform Spaceship.

“My goal is to create more brand names, more Calendlys, more Mailchimps, more Greenlights coming out of here to establish Atlanta as another place to be that's not turbo expensive,” Dorr told Atlanta Inno in March. “We got some initial fire, let’s pour some gas on it and create a big explosion."
