Atlanta-based cybersecurity company Secureworks has joined the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative, an effort between the private sector, federal interagency and government stakeholders to develop cyber defense operations to reduce the risk of cyberattacks.

CISA established the JCDC in light of cyberattacks on critical infrastructure such as the Colonial Pipeline and major organizations such as JBS Foods and others last year.

The JCDC will implement cyber defense plans to address risks, share data insight, implement defensive operations to prevent and reduce impacts of cyber intrusions and support joint exercises to improve operations.

Secureworks will contribute to the collaborative by providing information about tactics used in attacks based on data they receive from private and government research. The company will also help advise the public on protecting themselves from cyberattacks.

"The recent attacks on our national infrastructure have promoted a new level of urgency on how we respond to a fight we can't afford to lose," said Secureworks CEO Wendy Thomas.

The company assists over 5,000 enterprises in nearly 60 countries by detecting cyberattacks quickly and helping customers respond to and remediate those threats.

It leverages its tech platform, analytics, access to data and team of security experts to understand the techniques, tactics and procedures of cybercriminals.

The invitation for the company to join the collaborative came from having some long-standing relationships with different government agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security. Secureworks had also joined a work session with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and other security industry leaders to help set a framework for a successful collaboration.

Secureworks has 2,500 employees, 560 of whom are located in metro Atlanta. Other employees are located in Providence, Rhode Island; Austin, Texas; Scotland; Japan; Romania and Australia.
