Microsoft has announced it will open a new facility in Atlanta that will create more than 1,500 new tech jobs in West Midtown.
The software giant plans to open the office, a $75 million investment, in the summer of 2021, according to a news release from the office of Gov. Brian Kemp.
“I am confident that our top-notch tech talent and education pipeline will continue to be an asset to Microsoft," Kemp said in a statement. "We are laser-focused on providing high-quality jobs for hardworking Georgians, and I thank Microsoft for our growing partnership.”
The new facility will be a client-facing workplace with a focus on AI, cloud services and retail space. As reported by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the company will take over 523,000 square feet in the Atlanta Yards building at Atlantic Station.
“Atlanta has a rich culture and history of innovation, making it a unique place for tech growth,” said Terrell Cox, general manager at Microsoft, said in a statement. “We are excited to expand our presence and further engage with the community and surrounding region, contributing positively to technical opportunity, digital fluency, and economic development.”
To date, Microsoft operates a cloud computing engineering center in the Coda Building at Technology Square, with offices in Alpharetta and Buckhead.
