Editor's note: This story has been edited to reflect that companies that have attended Venture Atlanta have gone on to raise $4 billion, and applications for presenting and showcasing companies are not open yet.
Venture Atlanta, one of the region's largest tech and venture capital conferences, is doing something different this year.
After more than a decade of bringing together venture capitalists, investors and startups for one conference full of meetings, workshops and pitches, the city's biggest VC event is moving online for 2020.
According to the Venture Atlanta website, the conference will kick-off its 13th annual event online from October 21 to October 22. Venture Atlanta is currently taking requests for press passes and speakers for the event. Like many events, conferences and festivals around the world, it seems like Venture Atlanta is going digital thanks to Covid-19.
Since Venture Atlanta began, companies that have attended the conference have gone on to raise $4 billion. Last year, the conference had a record-breaking total of 1,100 attendees, including more than 300 venture capitalists and tech investors from across the country.
In October, I wrote about the lessons I learned and observations made while attending the conference. A large portion of the conference is devoted to making personal connections between startups and investors. Holding meetings and making in-person contact is a huge driver for success at the conference. How that will translate online will be a test for new Chairman Kelly Gay and new CEO Allyson Eman.
