With the rise in video game purchases, puzzles and board games to cope with indoor free-time in the days of COVID-19, people across the world are finding more ways to entertain and connect, including Catalyst Games.

Catalyst Games, previously branded Startup Games, engages companies in a friendly competition to create tangible impact in the cause areas that matter most where they work and live.

The company is preparing for the upcoming fall season, which is its third year in Atlanta. Last year's donation from games amounted to $20,000 for the local community.

On May 7 at 7 p.m. CST, Catalyst Games will host a virtual game where company teams from Atlanta, Austin and Denver will go head-to-head in three rounds of trivia. The event will last for about an hour.

Registration costs $25, and $20 of each registration will be donated to a food bank in the participant's local community. Atlanta players will be playing to aid the Atlanta Community Food Bank. According to Catalyst Games, 1 in 7.5 people in the metro area turn to food pantries and meal programs to feed themselves and their families. The donation from just one registration can help provide 80 meals for those in need.

Players who choose to donate more than their registration cost will be entered to win a soon-to-be released Austin, Naturally Snack Attack bundle from Naturally Austin worth, over $100+ in snack products. The top three teams will receive prizes like an artisan goodies brand box worth $150 from Shelf Studio, a CPG focused branding agency. You can register here.

Katrina Tolentino, CEO and executive director of Catalyst Games, suggests each trivia team would have six people. Atlanta teams will play against teams from Austin and Denver.

"Our hope is to some point strengthen the national ecosystem and startup growth companies," Sarah Dewey, director of business development, said.

Competition is the way Catalyst Games engages and motivates their stakeholders, Tolentino said. The company expects more than 30 teams will join the event.
