Opendoor, an online platform that helps you sell your home, has given us a look its new Southeastern hub located in downtown Atlanta.
The 30,000-square-foot dog-friendly office space, which can accommodate more than 200 employees, comes equipped with catered lunch every day---from a variety of cultures and diet preferences---as well as unlimited coffee, La Croix, sodas and snacks, a powered standing desk for each employee, a mother's room, prayer room and gym.
"As a company, one of our core values is 'build openness,'" an Opendoor employee said. "Our design team was quite thoughtful about creating a space in which we can easily collaborate, innovate and socialize. To that end, we were able to introduce a large common area where we eat lunch together every day, host all hands meetings, and otherwise build relationships."
Inside Opendoor's new Atlanta office, you'll find more than 30 conference rooms each named for a unique element of its business---for instance, the "1%" room reminds employees that they're on a pursuit of getting 1% every day, while the "Rita Room" is named after one of the company's first interactions with a seller in Atlanta, Rita. Work booths are designed to mimic big decisions made at the kitchen table, to remind employees of how personal and important selling a home is to their customers.
"One unique element of our office is that we created a library for Guy Horgan, an employee who unexpectedly passed away in mid-2018," an Opendoor representative said. "He was a ferocious reader and teacher, and his family donated his books to Opendoor. We've created a dedicated space called Horgan's Library that houses his books that employees can borrow and add to his collection. It's a peaceful place for our teammates to reflect on his impact, and is a space in which we can grow intellectually in the pursuit of continuous learning."
