Earlier this year, the Void, a location-based VR experience company founded in Utah, announced it would be opening a location in Atlanta and eight other cities around the country.

Now, the VR experience is officially headed to The Battery at SunTrust Park for baseball fans and VR fanatics alike, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The Void will open its Atlanta location in 2019.

“Using state-of-the-art VR technology, The VOID layers a virtual world over a physical space combined with 4D multi-sensory effects where guests can walk freely untethered, see, touch and interact with the environment,” the company stated in an announcement.

VR experiences at the location will include “Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire,” “Ghostbusters: Dimension,” “Ralph Breaks VR” and “Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment.”

Following the close of a Series A round late last year, the company announced plans to expand its locations to Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Hollywood, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, Santa Monica and Washington, D.C., according to a news release. The Void currently has eight locations around the world.

The Void adds to Atlanta’s expanding VR ecosystem; VRGluv, a startup based out of Kickr Labs, is designing a virtual reality glove (and potentially other applications) that allow you to feel things inside VR experiences. Atlanta’s own You Are Here VR lab and Project Ghost Studios, an independent game developer, are also gaining traction in the local entertainment space.

Meanwhile, more arcades and bars around the city are starting to offer VR experiences.
