We’re less than two weeks away from a major Midterm election and a few startups are going the extra mile to get you to the polls.
Lime, a San Francisco based e-scooter and bike company, announced yesterday that all riders in the startup’s U.S. markets, including Atlanta, will receive two free rides on Election Day as part of the company’s initiative to help voters get to the polls.
In addition to the free rides, which includes shared bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters, the company is partnering with non-partisan Vote.organd I am a voter. “to share important information and encourage riders to sign up for Election Day reminders and updates that will equip them with all of the resources they need to get out and vote,” according to a news release.
“Transportation to the polls is often a challenge for many Americans on Election Day, so we’re doing our part to help,” Lime co-founder Brad Bao said in a blog post.
Riders just need to use the code LIME2VOTE18 on Nov. 6, to equip them with a free ride to and from their polling location, up to 30-minutes.
Ride-hailing company Uber will help people find their polling locations and offer free rides to eligible riders on Nov. 6 with the help of nonprofits.
“Decisions get made by those who show up,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a blog post. “This Election Day, Uber will be doing what we can to make it easier for people to do just that.”
Competitor Lyft is offering half-priced and free rides to polling places as well.
Now there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t head to the polls in November. Get out the vote, y’all!
