The Void, a location-based VR experience company founded in Utah, will open a location in Atlanta and eight other cities around the country.
Following the close of a Series A round late last year, the company plans to expand its locations to Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Hollywood, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, Santa Monica and Washington, D.C., according to a news release. Void currently has eight locations around the world.
The Void adds to Atlanta's expanding VR ecosystem; VRGluv, a startup based out of Kickr Labs, is designing a virtual reality glove (and potentially other applications) that allow you to feel things inside VR experiences. Atlanta's own You Are Here VR lab and Project Ghost Studios, an independent game developer, are also gaining traction in the local entertainment space. Atlanta Inno's State of Innovation meetup later this month will feature several pioneers in the local VR scene for a panel, demo and showcase.
Meanwhile, more VR arcades and bars around the city are starting to offer VR experiences.
Here are the arcades, bars and other entertainment locations we know of where you can find VR. Don't see a location on the list? Email mhogan@americaninno.com.
