Atlanta-based privacy unicorn startup OneTrust recently acquired Integris Software, a Seattle-based startup.

Integris Software's AI technology will be used to enhance OneTrust's DataDiscovery product, according to a news release. The product helps companies understand their data and automate privacy, security and data governance programs. Integris' tech has already been integrated into the product.

“Our customers have encouraged us to continue to lead the market with innovation in automated data discovery capabilities,” Kabir Barday, OneTrust CEO and Fellow of Information Privacy, said in a statement. “After evaluating dozens of discovery technologies, we identified Integris Software as having best in class technology and team that will combine with OneTrust to accelerate our innovation and benefit our customers.”

Integris Software's AI-powered data discovery and classification technology has been used across industries, including retail, telecom, transportation, automotive and technology.

“We knew OneTrust’s 6,000 customers would be eager to use our combined solution quickly, so we’ve worked hard over the last few months to seamlessly bring the technologies together and offer organizations the ability to use the Integris technology within OneTrust DataDiscovery immediately," Kristina Bergman, founder and CEO of Integris Software, said in a statement.

OneTrust, a privacy, security and third-party risk technology platform which reached a $2.7 billion valuation earlier this year, completed a $210 million funding round in February. After the coronavirus pandemic hit the U.S., the company announced in April it had laid off 10-15% of its employees. As of February, OneTrust had 1,500 employees across 10 offices around the world.

OneTrust works with companies’ privacy departments to be sure they are complying with privacy regulations and laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, the EU’s GDPR and Brazil’s LGPD. In an age where privacy is a growing concern for customers, OneTrust serves as a source to let companies know what data they’re collecting, how much, what they need to disclose to their customers and more.
