Clearcover, a Chicago-based startup that’s changing the way people buy car insurance, just raised its third round of funding that includes an Atlanta company. The startup announced Friday that it closed a $50M Series C round led by OMERS Ventures. Previous investors American Family Ventures, Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises and IA Capital Group also participated in the round. Learn more about Clearcover and their recent funding at Chicago Inno.

Vital4Data, a Marietta-based cloud software company that offers a globally accessible due diligence data search, has raised $100K in funding, according to a filing with the SEC.

The founders of SlumberPod, a Columbus, Ga.-based startup that designs a quick-assembly privacy pod that helps babies and toddlers sleep, appeared on ABC's "Shark Tank." The startup received a $400K investment from the Corcoran Group founder and shark Barbara Corcoran for 20% stake on the contingency that SlumberPod pays a percentage to her on each sale. SlumberPod was designed to fit and enclose playards, travel cribs, cots and even toddler mattresses to give toddlers and babes alike a dark, quiet and safe sleeping environment.

OncoLens, an Atlanta-based cancer treatment planning software startup, raised $2.5M in a Pre-Series A round led by local VC firm BIP Capital. Previous investors Atlanta Technology Angels and the Robbins Fund also participated in the round. Using software solutions, OncoLens helps cancer centers conduct cancer case reviews and achieve accreditation from several cancer fighting organizations. The company serves integrated delivery networks and hospitals across the country.

Harvest Connect, an Atlanta-based vertically integrated ingredient and brand company for hemp and CBD oil, raised $750K of a $3.5M round, according to a filing with the SEC.

Curricula, a story-based security awareness training platform, raised $3M in funding from RCP Equity. Since founding with just four employees in 2015, the startup says it has bootstrapped its operations.

Fintech giant NCR acquired Zynstra, a U.K.-based provider of edge virtualization technology. According to a news release, the acqusition will aid NCR in enhancing its product capabilities and solutions. The purchase was made for about $131M.

Atlanta Seed Company, a local VC firm, is on its way to raising a $30M fund. The firm has raised $2.6M of the fund since Dec. 17, according to a filing with the SEC. ASC uses a platform to match high-net-worth individuals with early-stage venture opportunities. The firm’s portfolio includes local startups BarkIllumaPatientcoSudu LogisticsuBack and Verisolutions.

Aptos, an Atlanta-based provider of retail industry software was purchased from Apax Partners by Goldman Sachs, according to a news release. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kellermeyer Bergensons Services acquired an Atlanta-based hospitality staffing provider, Hospitality Staffing Solutions, from Littlejohn & Co.according to Axios. Kellermeyer is a portfolio company of Cerberus Capital Management. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

100 Black Angels Fund I, a venture fund run by Rodney Sampson, an Atlanta angel investor and founder and CEO of Opportunity Hub and the Legacy Opportunity Fund, raised $350K of a $5M fund, according to a filing with the SEC.

Sig Mosley, founder of Mosley Ventures, has joined Zane Venture Fund, a $10M fund created to support founders with diverse teams, as a venture partner. Mosley is known for leading the largest venture deal in the Southeast—the $5.7B acquisition of Tradex by Ariba. Founded in late 2018 by Shila Nieves Burney, Zane Venture Fund was created to address the capital investment gap for tech-enabled startups led by women and people of color.

Lemongrass Consulting, a SAP and AWS consultant based in the United Kingdom, announced plans to establish its U.S. headquarters in Atlanta following a $10M Series C raise. The round was led by Blue Lagoon Capital and joined by returning investor Columbia Capital. 

OnPay, an Atlanta-based payroll software startup, closed an oversubscribed $6M Series A round from individual investors. Mark McKee, president and COO of OnPay, said the funding will primarily be used for growing its team, product development, marketing efforts and better its customer experience.

Civic Eagle, a political tech startup with split headquarters in Twin Cities and Atlanta, closed on a $1.3M round of seed funding to help the company grow ahead of its program launch. Civic Eagle’s seed round was led by Chicago-based venture capital firm M25 Ventures. The following firms and individuals also participated: The Syndicate Fund, Incite Ventures, ffVC, PurposeBuilt Ventures and DigitalOcean founders Moisey and Ben Uretsky. Founded in 2015, Civic Eagle aims to use technology to improve transparency in public policy and legislative affairs. Originally, the company was creating a mobile app to help people understand politics.

Concora, a Norcross-based software provider for manufacturers, raised $1.25M of a $3M round from three investors, according to a filing with the SEC.

mCloud Technologies Corp, a Vancouver-based software company that provides asset management solutions, has finalized the acquisition of Atlanta-based 3D technology company Construction Systems Associates. mCloud paid $500K in cash and issued 380,210 shares of the firm.

AmpRecover, an Atlanta-based startup that provides digital care management software for orthopedic rehabilitation, has raised $500K of a $1M round, according to a filing with the SEC. The funding was raised from a sole investor.

Atlanta-based Southern Company, a gas and electric utility holding company, committed to investing $50M into Georgia Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other states over the next few years. The investment will pay for scholarships, internships, leadership development and access to tech.

Slope Software, an Atlanta-based insurtech startup that modernizes actuarial software, raised a $1M seed round from Cofounders Capital. The startup will use the funding to scale the growth of its platform, according to WRAL Tech Wire. The company has an office in Charlotte but said it had no plans to expand in the Triangle, but will most likely hire for more positions later in the year. Cofounders Capital, founded and led by veteran investor and The Motley Fool co-founder David Gardner, is based out of Cary, NC.

Brightree LLC, a Peachtree Corners-based healthcare IT company with solutions and services for out-of-hospital care organizations, acquired SnapWorx, LLC, a Brentwood, Tenn. software company serving the home medical equipment market. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. SnapWorx’s 40 full-time employees will join the Brightree team, according to a news release. SnapWorx President Emmet Seibelswill continue to serve as the leader of the SnapWorx business.

Treehouse Holdings, an Atlanta-based holding company of several local startups, raised more than $400K of a $1.8M round, according to a filing with the SEC. ExamMed, an Atlanta Inno 50 on Fire Innoblazer winner, Code Runner and HumazeMD are all Atlanta-based medtech startups and portfolio companies of Treehouse Holdings. LaaSer, an Atlanta-based safety services startup, is also a portfolio company.
