brrr°, an Atlanta-based startup that develops textiles that keep you cool, has raised $3 million in a recent funding round.

brrr° uses a triple chill technology effect to keep you cool: cooling minerals, active wicking and rapid drying.

"brrr° raised a $3 million round of funding in March from new investors as well as follow-on contributions from many existing investors. This is a strong endorsement of the disruptive cooling capabilities of brrr° technology, and an investment in our relentless focus on creating new products that are proven to keep you cooler," Mary-Cathryn Kolb, founder and CEO of brrr°, said.

Last year, the company raised $1 million in a seed round for a total of $6 million raised, according to Crunchbase. Previous investors include Silicon Valley and Southeast investors Bob Kavner, Larry Marcus and Doug Sellers.

"brrr° plans to use the additional capital to invest in product development and R&D; expand sales and marketing efforts; deepen relationships with existing customers; and pursue new customers in apparel, bedding, automotive and other sectors," Kolb said.

I first met Kolb earlier this year---a brazen female entrepreneur with significant experience in the clothing and textiles industry. A former Spanx Inc. executive, Kolb left the company to pursue her own venture with brrr°. Unlike wicking fabrics and clothing that are marketed in today's clothing stores, brrr° doesn't absorb your sweat, tying you down. Instead, the textiles are equipped with patented technology and specific fibers meant to pull in air and keep you cool.

The company recently announced its partnership with clothing company Southern Tide for its spring and summer men's 2019 collection. On Monday, the company announced it had partnered with Therapedic International to produce a new line of cooling bedsheet sets with technology by brrr°. The startup also made our list of 10 Makers to Watch in 2019 among other Atlanta innovators.
