Terminus Software Inc. won the marketing and media category of Atlanta Inno's Fire Awards.

Marketing technology startup Terminus, which started in the Atlanta Tech Village in 2014, is planning an international expansion. The startup aims to provide an all-in-one platform for account-based marketing so companies can better target potential clients. Earlier this year, the company raised $90 million and plans to increase its 200-person team to 250. It’s made four acquisitions in past three years.

Here's a Q&A with CEO Tim Kopp.

Q: How are your company’s innovations changing your industry’s landscape?

A: The marketing industry is undergoing another massive transformation. Account-based marketing, or ABM, has become the new standard. Instead of looking at everything in terms of leads, it is about looking at it in terms of accounts. ABM is going to be the backbone of modern business-to-business marketing platforms for the next decade.

We’re squarely focused on building the only marketing platform out there that provides a single view of the customer across every channel. We’re the only account-based engagement platform built to deliver more pipeline and revenue through multi-channel account-based marketing. Our platform connects the first- and third-party data — keep your eyes on this, we’re in the middle of a data gold rush — needed to understand both customers and prospects, with the most robust suite of engagement channels out there.

Q: What’s your advice to future and current entrepreneurs?

A: Right now? Nail your hiring. Building the right team is critical to succeed no matter your product or service. Early on, it can seem counterintuitive to prioritize hiring, but there’s nothing more critical to scaling than getting the right people in the right seats to take your growth to the next level. In today’s hot job market, this is more important than ever.

Q: What’s been the biggest roadblock in your growth and how did you overcome it?

A: Not making decisions quickly enough. “Analysis paralysis” is a real thing when it comes to running a company. More often than not, we all know what to do. We know what call to make and when, but we let relationships, second guessing, imposter syndrome, etc., creep in and blur those decisions. When it comes to hiring and scaling, making big decisions quickly can make all the difference in-market, and is honestly a huge competitive advantage.
