After about 38 years, the founders of Albuquerque-based Computer Corner, Carole and Joe Petranovich, are retiring. On Feb. 1, the two sold the company to Brian and Kathryn Fletcher, according to a news release.
“We’re passing the torch to another great husband and wife team,” Carole said in a statement. “Brian and Kat will continue our dedication to exceptional customer service and high quality. We hope that everyone will continue to support Computer Corner and other local companies, and we thank our customers for their past business and support.”
Computer Corner offers built-to-order computers, hardware, software and repair and training services. The company works with personal consumers as well as government clients. It was founded in 1983, not too long after Carole found Joe soldering computer components on a wooden table in the living room, Business First reported.
In 2019, the company made $5.41 million in gross New Mexico revenue, according to our List of New Mexico Women-owned Businesses. Carole previously told Business First that she and Joe are "always looking for something new and innovative." The company has made use of the government, secured contracts with different agencies.
In 2007, the New Mexico government reportedly selected Computer Corner to provide technical training, applications instruction and certification for state agencies, municipalities, counties and educational institutions that work with Hewlett-Packard products. That same year, Sandia National Laboratories selected the company to provide applications training, technical training, and technical certification to members of its workforce.
And after Best Buy announced it was coming to town, Computer Corner focused more on customer and technical service. Those services included installing upgrades, fixing broken parts and on-site delivery, according to our reporting.
