After the Covid-19 pandemic forced Meow Wolf to hit the pause button on its community space, the Santa Fe-based immersive arts and entertainment company is ready to debut the reimagined venue.
Housed inside Meow Wolf’s Santa Fe location, the 1,200-square-foot space dubbed Rainbow Rainbow, is set to open to the public on May 1. In addition to free programs and events hosted by Meow Wolf, the space will be available for arts groups, social impact organizations, nonprofits and other users at “low- and no-cost,” according to a news release.
“We believe in the power of creativity to better people’s lives,” Julie Heinrich, chief of staff and executive director of the Meow Wolf Foundation, said in the release. “Our community engagement work here in our home state of New Mexico and at all of our locations is focused on increasing access to art and culture and exploring how creativity encourages innovative thinking, which is essential for job growth and development — including STEAM jobs. We are beyond excited to offer this space to our community and hope that visitors are inspired to create.”
The multipurpose community space was originally opened in 2016 and operations were put on hold in 2020 when Covid-19 arrived. For the revamped space, Albuquerque artist Caroline Liu created a new mural and Chadney Everett, a creative director at Meow Wolf, oversaw the concept.
Rainbow Rainbow is dedicated to Matt King, a Meow Wolf co-founder and artist who passed away in July 2022.
