With expansion on the horizon, Meow Wolf continues to add to its executive team.
The Santa Fe-based immersive arts company has hired Eric Piner to serve as senior vice president of project management. As part of the role, he will oversee attraction and exhibition planning. With reportedly 34 years of design and construction management experience, Piner spent a good chunk of his career working for Walt Disney World and Universal on its theme parks. He also led his own consulting firm.
“Solid project management is critical to our future growth and has never been fully formalized to this level,” Meow Wolf CEO Jose Tolosa said in a news release. “Based on Piner’s background alone, we are thrilled to have him as part of the leadership spearheading this effort.”
Piner recently relocated from Central Florida to Santa Fe. He now will get to work on the development, planning and execution of construction and facility programs for Meow Wolf, the news release said. He will also help with site selection and due diligence.
In May, Meow Wolf announced plans for two new exhibits in Texas: one in Houston and one in Grapevine, located in the Dallas metro area. Grapevine is set to open in 2023 with Houston to follow the next year. Currently, the organization has exhibits in Santa Fe, Las Vegas and Denver.
In an interview with Tolosa this past summer, the Meow Wolf exec discussed the company’s plans for both digital and physical expansion.
“We are going to push the envelope,” Tolosa told Albuquerque Business First. “We are going to roll it out around the U.S., hopefully internationally, and there is a lot more ground to cover with that artistry in other forms.”
