With renovations already underway on one Albuquerque building, BlueHalo has signed a lease for an additional 83,000 square feet of space at another location.

The Arlington, Virginia-based engineering and defense company announced on July 29 that it had signed a lease at 1300 Eubank Blvd. SE. The news comes roughly a month after it received approval for a $16 million industrial revenue bond and $2.5 million in Local Economic Development Act incentives from the City of Albuquerque and State of New Mexico. Those funds will be allocated for the renovation of BlueHalo's 10800 Gibson Blvd. SE building, which has already commenced.

“As BlueHalo continues to serve a primary role in groundbreaking programs for our customers, it is essential for us to continue growing our facilities in terms of physical size, number of employees and technological capability,” Dan Gillings, BlueHalo sector president, said in a press release. “It has been exciting to see our expansion in New Mexico for manufacturing continue to take shape with the improvements at our Gibson facility, the approval of the IRB and LEDA funds and the signing of the new lease at 1300 Eubank.”

BlueHalo’s Gibson and Eubank facilities were previously occupied by satellite startup Theia Group, who had taken the space from Raytheon. When Theia Group’s Albuquerque plans failed to launch, the space was again vacated.

Originally, BlueHalo had intended to build a 200,000-squre-foot facility at the planned Max Q development. It later withdrew those plans and turned its attention to the Gibson Boulevard location, which is part of the Sandia Science and Technology Park.
