A pair of solar companies in New Mexico have been chosen to be part of Panasonic's solar program.

Ocotillo Solar Electric in Albuquerque and Organ Mountain Solar & Electric in Las Cruces are among seven total solar providers that were selected by the technology corporation.

Since 2016, Panasonic has been offering what is called the Solar Residential Installer Program, which provides benefits and business opportunities to installers who meet certain qualifications. There are three tiers in the program: authorized, premium and elite, under which installers receive preferred access to new products and rebates, access to sales leads and other things, according to a Sept. 28 release from Panasonic.

Organ Mountain was named an elite installer while Ocotillo was named a premium installer, per the release.

"Consumer interest in solar and storage continues to climb, with more homeowners making greater investments in their overall resiliency and sustainability. With so many homeowners spending a majority of their time at home over the past 18 months, we're seeing an uptick in those turning to solar for the most eco-friendly energy solution," said David Lopez, national sales manager of Panasonic's Life Solutions Company of America, in a prepared statement.

The other companies that were chosen alongside Ocotillo and Organ Mountain were Bob Heinmiller Solar Solutions in Orlando, Florida; Greenbelt Solar in Austin, Texas; Xando Energy in Naples, Florida; GC Electric Solar in Poway, California; and Plug It In Solar in Van Nuys, California.

Several other solar companies have set up shop in New Mexico, employing hundreds and raking in millions in revenue every year. The largest by 2020 New Mexico revenue is NM Solar Group, which employed 105 full-time employees in the state as of June with $24.5 million in revenue, according to our List of New Mexico Solar and Renewable Energy Companies.
