Santa Fe-based 3D printer startup Optomec said it has received $8 million worth of orders for its new printer technologies within the past few months, according to a news release from Optomec.

The company's most recent order came from a Fortune 500 firm that is a "leading global manufacturer of electronic systems and other advanced technology products," according to the news release.

That order, which Optomec said is worth more than $1 million, comes roughly two months after a defense electronics customer purchased an additional two circuit printer machines from the company.

That deal was worth $500,000, the company said and brought the total amount of money Optomec received from recent orders to $7 million, according to the company.

Optomec offers advanced printer technology for additive manufacturing and can print circuitry with features as small as 10 microns. Applications for the electronics printers include medical electronics, semiconductor packaging and more.

The company also offers 3D printers for metal component production and repair for the aviation sector, according to the company.

It's unclear exactly how much money has been invested into Optomec, but a Securities and Exchange Commission filing shows the startup disclosed a $6 million funding round from three investors in November 2015, more than a decade after it delivered its first 3D printer. In 2018, the firm acquired South Carolina-based manufacturer Huffman, which had an in with the gas turbine market, the company said.

In total, Optomec has more than 250 customers globally, according to its website.
