Green Theme Technologies, a sustainable technology company seeking to commercialize a waterless dyeing process for fabrics, has a new chief executive.
David Andreas, the company's former chief operations officer, replaces cofounder Gary Selwyn as CEO, the company announced last month. The leadership switch comes as the company seeks to scale the use of its platform.
The company says it produces water-repellent textiles through a process that bonds chemicals with fabrics.
"Interest is rising again and the market is expected to allow [Green Theme] to sign new licensees and new brand customers in the apparel and other markets. We are adding new talent to the GTT team and increasing business volume," Andreas said in a statement,
In June, the Rio Rancho-based company filed a Form D for $3.4 million from 22 investors, raising its total amount of investment disclosed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to more than $10 million.
Zach Jonasson, a partner at Phoenix Venture Partners — an early Green Theme investor — said in a statement that as COO Andreas "proved to be invaluable in our efforts to identify strategic partners and establish key market development relationships around the world."
Big-name brands including Marmot and Black Diamond Equipment have worked with Green Theme to produce jackets The clothing item developed alongside Utah-based Black Diamond, which uses the tech startup's EMPEL finish, retails for $349 online. The jacket took first last year in the ISPO Awards, which highlights certain sports products.
Green Theme Technologies was officially formed in 2018 as part of a merger between two firms, one of which owned the intellectual property for the manufacturing technology and another that Selwyn previously said acted as the group's production arm, Business First reported.
