Las Cruces telehealth company Electronic Caregiver plans to punctuate a year of growth with dozens of new jobs and the potential purchase of the city's tallest building.

CEO Anthony Dohrmann told Business First the company is in negotiations to purchase the Las Cruces Tower, the location of Electronic Caregiver's current headquarters. The investment would be more than $8 million. The company also plans to locate a remote care center for patients who use the company's services, allowing them access to health professionals that would be working at the Las Cruces Tower.

Electronic Caregiver's technology includes digital devices which provide health monitoring, medical alerts and other telehealth services. With the new expansion, the company would provide more remote services to patients across the country from New Mexico.

The company plans to add 60 jobs over the next five months or so, Dohrmann said, adding the company has considered using state Job Training Incentive Program incentives to add to the workforce.

If the company closes on the real estate purchase, it would also renovate and update the building, Dohrmann said.

“This isn’t like customer service or tech support, this is a professional, medically staffed, 24/7 remote triage center” with staff "that provide continuous telehealth services," Dohrmann said.

A group of 41,000 patients will be served by the operation "just to start," he said.

Terri Porsberg of Best Real Estate Management in El Paso, Texas, is listed as the real estate agent representing open office space at the Las Cruces Tower. She was unable to be reached for comment.

The 10-story building was constructed in 1966 and encompasses more than 87,000 square feet, according to Loopnet.

Electronic Caregiver occupies a few floors in the Las Cruces Tower, but would also occupy an additional three floors after the expansion. Its remote care center there will provide around-the-clock service.

The company's "Addison Care" health care platform will also be rolled out on a limited basis later this year, Dohrmann said.

The "Addison Care" platform will have facial and speech recognition capabilities, vitals monitoring, medication reminders and other features. The company currently offers a plan which includes devices to measure blood sugar, breathing, temperature and other indications of health.

Dohrmann said the company revenue has grown more than 70% over the past two years.

Earlier this year, Electronic Caregiver announced it contracted with New York-based Pinnacle Investments LLC to "act as a placement agent to obtain expansion capital for their telehealth business" as part of its Series E financing round. To date, the company has disclosed $12.2 million in funding to the Securities and Exchange Commission since its founding in 2009.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Electronic Caregiver experienced an increase in demand from health care organizations, with some employers also expressing interest, chief clinical officer Tim Washburn previously told Business First. The company also upped prices because the suppliers of its health monitoring tools increased their own rates, Washburn said.
